Tamra Smith

Hometown: Menifee, California

Place of Birth: San Francisco, California

Occupation: Horse Trainer, Competitor, Wife, Mother, Therapist/Hand Holder

Why This Sport: Because I love every discipline and can't seem to choose.

Hobbies: Riding and any extreme sport.

Most Influential Person in Career: Everyone who has helped me in my riding. From my first trainer to the people I clinic with now......I'm lucky to have the right people to help me continue to get better every day.

Hero / Idol: My husband Dave :) is my hero! Not sure I have an idol.

Superstitions / Rituals / Beliefs: I have a hard time making future plans for big events. A good friend of mine made a reservation for Rolex a year in advance and I just pretended like it wasn't ever made. I just don't want to jinx myself so I keep training everyday and if something like Rolex rolls into the calendar then I'm doing backflips!

Sporting Philosophy / Motto: You're either training or un-training! So do it right the first time and if it's not right do it again. When students say they "can't," I alway reply:  "Can't never did anything... TRY!"

Memorable Sporting Achievement: Competing at Rolex Kentucky 4*

Other Awards and Honors: United States Developing Riders List; won Richland Park CIC2*, Twin Rivers and Rebecca Farm Advanced Divisions; Reserve Champion Area VI Horse and Rider.

Tamra's Pennfield: Grand Prix Granola, Fibregized Omega
