Why This Sport: It’s the most challenging.

Most Influential Person in Career: Robert Pindle, who found some of my greatest horses; Willis Lynch, my riding mentor at boarding school; and Bayard Tuckerman, who was influential in helping me with my riding as a child.

Superstitions / Rituals / Beliefs: I put things on my left side first, always!
Sporting Philosophy / Motto: If you’re going to do it, take your time and do the best you can.
Memorable Sporting Achievement: My second World Championship win, because they were in Kentucky that year (‘78) and my son Buck, who was very small at the time, was there watching.
Other Awards and Honors: I have a wonderful career, have had fabulous horses and competed at venues around the world. But honestly, being a parent tops all of that. It’s by far the biggest honor for me.
